Pahelika has just been reviewed over at https://www.gamesetter.com. The review is in german, but they were kind enough to give me a translation. As always, here is a (translated) summary:

But even though Pahelika: Secret Legends doesn’t bring any new in gameplay or puzzles, nothing innovative, beside the minor minus points, it is a great game, that should stand with head ups next to Azada and other puzzle/inventory based games.

It has a decent length (even though the end came as a surprise). A little more polishing here and there would have been nice, but that does not take away any of the fun while playing. For fans of puzzle games, for those, like to use their brains, Pahelika: Secret Legends is more than worth the download.

  1. I am outside the gates in the Fairy segment. I made the potion and moved the stone. Got all the gems. When I try to put them into the thingie on the right side of the door, I get a message that says something like “An invisible force repels the stone.” How do I get rid of the invisible repelling force? Thanks!

  2. You need to put the stones in the correct order. Try putting in the topmost stone first. Put in the same coloured stone.

  3. I am inside the fairy hut. I assembled the wand, i swaped the fires until the color of fire matches that of the color strip of each brazier. But the door does not open! How does the door open?? thanks!

  4. I got the game from a friend some time ago. Didn’t get to playing until now. But, does this means I have an old version? Do I have to buy another version to be able to play?

  5. this game was fantatic play, played most of them but this is by far the best yet, had me going for days. big THANX ps when is the next one out and what is it called

  6. @Nicole:
Yes, you have an pirated, older version, and you should buy it if you want to play the full version.

    @msdine:
Its great to know you enjoyed the game, we are trying to release the next one in december, but the name isn’t finalized yet.

  7. First it is really a great game. I’ve played a lot of puzzle games and now I only play the best. This one is only after “Mystery Case Files 6” in my ranking. The only thing is that I so much hope the monologue/dialogue/transitional scenes are skippable.

    1. @pp:
Thank you for the kind comments!
In the newer version, the cutscenes have been made skippable.

  8. I’m in the ice room and I have the game guide. I have the hammer, a piece of ice, a pot and a mold. I cannot get any further as I cannot find any ice to break to put in the pot. I have the strategy guide but is not any help.

  9. I have finished the first level, but then when the second level starts I get a fatal error, and when I start back up I have to start all the way from the beginning – it didn’t save.

    1. That’s strange. Which level you are in? Where did you buy the game? Did you play the bigfish demo first?

  10. Hi. Personally, I found the game play the same as every other point and click adventure – just very much shorter. The size of the download was quite high for the game play length of time, but this might be a compression thing.. I also found the puzzles very easy. I **hate** electronic jigsaws with a passion and frankly, found this a really bad way of making the game play length time extended. I would have skipped them, if I’d had to option. The same with the “concentration” or “pair matching” games. Major ICK!

I would also have another look at the hint system. It’s not consistant across the game. In some sections, you get the answer! In other areas, you are guessing at something that has no hint – though when you actually do get it, it’s not at all similar to other simliar “puzzles” in the game.. I’m talking about the word find games mostly. One is a word, and the other is a monkey sound or a ghost! I’m sorry, that just doesn’t compute, especially when you are in an ice cave. 🙁 Also, i would allow some way of showing what it is that you’ve picked up and what you have in the inventory. The fire starter on the ocean edge didn’t look like a fire starter, and I only got it through picking up one piece and clicking on everything else.

But (big but) Overall, it’s a fine first game in the adventure relm and kudo’s to you for doing it. I will play your next game, as I am an adventure junky, and hope that you not only make the game longer, but also learn from this one and make the next one better with more original puzzles. Using jigsaws and pair matching games is just cheating. 😉

  11. Ihave reached the Room of Seasons –slider puzzle. I have stared at that thing for 45 minutes and messed around with no luck. Can you give me a hint or at least let me cry on your shoulder. Thanks md

  12. Pahelika was the most enjoyable game I have ever played. The story line was absorbing, artwork beautiful, and mechanical problems intruiging. Thank you for a great game! Do you have others?

  13. I REALLY LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!! i LIKE THE NEW TWIST ON HIDDEN OBJECT. I HAVE TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS ABOUT IT AND TOLD THEM TO GIVE IT A TRY THEY WOULD ENJOY IT TOO. I’TS A VERY GOOD GAME FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE MEMORY PROBLEMS, AS YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR BRAIN TO FIGURE OUT EACH LEVEL OF PLAY I HOPE YOU WILL BE MAKING MORE GAMES ALONG THIS LINE OF PC GAMING.

  14. Completed Pahelika in 3 hours it was quite enjoyable. I do like games such as these and wish to play more of these. When playing game it said to leave a comment with your website. Thank you for the adventure.

  15. My husband and I loved the game, wished it took longer to play…it took us using different laptops about 3 hours. Cant wait for the next game like Pahelika

  16. Smashing game ,puzzles are hard enough to to keep ones interest but not so hard that one gets frustrated. The only complaint I have is that it was too short, I wanted it to go on for longer. More in a similar vein please because I just can’t wait.

  17. I just finished Pahelika and not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, I am going to recommend it to a friend of mine who also enjoys these types of adventure puzzle games. It was hard enough to be fun and challenging, but not so hard I was ready to rip my hair out. Thanks so much, I can’t wait for the sequel!

  18. I’ve been playing adventure games for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed Pahelika. I got it from Real Arcade(now Gamehouse) and didn’t really know what to expect. It turned out to be well worth the money, and I anxiously await the sequel. Good luck on your future endeavors. I hope more adventure games are in it.
